State: Utah
Age: 25
Bio: Hi, fellow outdoor enthusiasts! My name is Lisa Holgreen and I am a new Utah State Park Youth Ambassador. I am married to Kyle and am giddy as can be over him. I always knew I wanted to get married, but never imagined it could be this good. We have been married 4 years and look forward to a lifetime of him and I. No kids yet, but we have a black lab who has us wrapped around his paw. Kyle and I are both working, in school and busy as can be but we live for our weekends and thoroughly enjoy a weekend of exploring a new canyon or trying a new activity. Our favorite sports right now are rock climbing, snowshoeing and mountain biking. We ski and snowboard in the winter once or twice a year, but usually resort to cheaper sports.
I Am A State Park Ambassador Because: I'm almost done with my bachelor degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism and am wrapping up my degree with an internship with Utah State Parks. They have asked me to become a Youth Ambassador to get the word out about our amazing state parks. I absolutely love what I do, the people I work with and the idea of working in a similar position in the near-future. I have been to about half of Utah's state parks and look forward to visiting the others before my internship is complete.
Schools Attended: University of Utah, Salt Lake Community College
First State Park: Utah Lake
Favorite State Park: Snow Canyon
Park I Am Dying To Visit: The rest of them!
I've Visited State Parks In: Idaho, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Washington
Coolest Thing I've Seen In Parks: One of my other favorite Utah parks is Goblin Valley. They have amazing geology, hiking, camping, canyoneering nearby in the San Rafael Swell and hoodoos galore! My family took a trip down there last Spring and we had a blast enjoying the outdoors together. A bunch of us played hide and seek around the goblins, then we went on a nice long hike through a canyon then hung out at our non-designated campsite talking and hanging out around the fire. The coolest thing about that was seeing my nieces and nephews gaining a passion for the outdoors like their aunt!
Interests: Being active outside with friends and family is the best thing in the world!
Music Played At My Campfire: I can't say we really listen to music around the fire...
What Not To Miss In My State's Parks: Don't be afraid to toss the map and explore!
Who I Would Go On A Hike With If I Could: Everett Ruess (If you don't know his story, you should!)
This Sums It All Up For Me: Each and every one of our state parks has something special about it and they're all worth visiting!
